The Trial of Shmuel Krawatsky

Rabbi Shmuel Krawatsky alleged sexually abused three boys at Camp Shoresh, an Orthodox Jewish camp connected to the Baltimore Jewish community. Following the publication of these allegations in a Jewish Week article, Krawatsky filed a defamation suit against them, activist Chaim Levin, and the families of the three alleged victims. The families counter-sued Krawatsky for the alleged abuse. For 6 years the two sides battled in court in discovery, depositions, and pretrial motions. On February 6th of 2024 the trial finally began with the families’ case against Krawatsky. This page chronicles the day to day of the trial.
